Leonard J. Hammonds II

Leonard Hammonds II is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He is a community leader, activist, and organizer. Hammonds is also an ordained minister with Iron Cross Community Ministries.  Hammonds is the founder of Hammonds Initiative, a non-profit organization pairing veteran mentors with area youth focusing on community outreach, violence prevention/intervention, mentoring and volunteerism.

Hammonds is also an emerging voice in the African American Veteran community.  He is also the President of 7411 Consulting, helping businesses, organizations, and individuals take their ideas from concept to reality.

Hammonds serves on many boards and committees including the Richard L. Ferguson American Legion Post 527 in Rankin, Pa and the Penn Hills YMCA Advisory Board, where he is Chair of the Board Development Committee. He is also a member of the City of Pittsburgh Group Violence Intervention (GVI) Street Outreach Team. Hammonds is also a motivational speaker and aspiring author. He is currently working on his first book, “The First Drop of Rain”.

Leonard believes and often says,"What's in you will compensate for what's around you". The belief is that we must all take the initiative to better our communities.
